MANICURE

This week we had our first practical session. Attached is a video that shows the basic steps to the manicure treatment.

Handy hints:
  1. You do not have to file from the side to the centre, but it is important to only file in one direction.Scrubbing or sawing back and forth with your nail file, damages the nail plate.
  2. Remember you are working with hand at a time. There is no need for both hands to be in soak at the same time.
  3. You would only need to use an orange stick with cotton wool tip if you do not have a hoof stick.
  4. When using cuticle nippers remember to cut (nip) and not pull the skin. If you pull you risk tearing the client skin and causing a bleed.
  5. Decide on the massage moves that you are comfortable with. Practice them on a regular basis and know the names of these movements and the benefits to your client. Effluage is a massage movement that you can use between each massage move to create a smooth motions from one movement to another.
  6. Nail varnish application must be base coat, 2 coats of colour and top coat.

Practice - if you can complete 4 treatments before our next session it will be beneficial.
We will be including hand scrubs in our next class - research the benefits of an exfoliation treatment.

BASIC PEDICURE

This a video to help you prepare for the new sessions.
As discussed in class we will adjust our position according to the set - up of the salon.
Generally the rule is the clients comfort. The therapist should try to work to nearest eye level to area being treated.
So weather your using a pedicure chair, massage table or chairs both therapist & client are comfortable throughout the treatment.

Enjoy
